The INSIDE Endoscope is not just for 'live' dental surgery, but can also make an excellent training
tool as well.
This system more than any other can be incorporated into a teaching scenario using Phantom
Heads or live subjects and allows the trainer to show students exactly what they are looking for
inside a mouth.
Coatbridge College's
award winning Dental Section will be the first establishment to use the
INSIDE system at their Dental Training Facility in Scotland to support the range of courses they
offer.
The images can be set up in a number of ways
(any or all of the below can be applied to any set-up):
.
|
|
* Direct to Large Format Image
|
A secondary image is taken from the INSIDE and sent to a
large format screen (projection or LCD / Plasma) allowing
viewers to see what is inside the mouth.
.
|
|
* Direct to Student Screens
|
Where students have their own screens, either at a desk or
at a training position with a Phantom Head, the INSIDE
image can be streamed to as many screens as required
allowing each student to review the images
.
|
|
* Via Computer
|
By incorporating a computer, the trainer has the ability to
switch between the INSIDE's images and any information or
additional training resources on the computer. Furthermore,
depending on the software used, the trainer could annotate
over the captured images to further enhance training.
.
|
|
* Via Recording Device
|
A Digital Recorder can be added to the set-up allowing the
trainer to record any part of the session. These recordings
can be played back at any time or converted for online
libraries thus allowing students access via the Internet.
.
|
|
* Via Video Conferencing
|
Being able to couple the INSIDE to a Video Conferencing
system is also a useful feature. This allows a dental trainer
or expert to train or guide others in a teaching session or
even live operation anywhere in the word.
.
|
|
* Via Data Conferencing
|
Again, depending on the computer system and software
used, data conferencing is feasible with users being able to
interact in real time annotating on images from any location.
